Ryman and the Sheikh

by Kristine Landon-Smith, Sudha Bhuchar, Rehan Sheikh, Chris Ryman & Richard Vranch

“Tamasha’s production is a thoughtful insight into a clash between generations and cultures, contained within an inch-perfect pastiche of cheap cable television”

The List

Sheikh, the portly prince of Pakistani primetime, comes face to face with Ryman (real name Rahman), the gangly geezer from the urban ghetto with the gift of the gab! Working together to promote a new cable channel, they both find themselves confronted with some of the choices that they have made…

A hilarious spoof of Asian TV cable channels, RYMAN AND THE SHEIKH was devised during the rehearsal process. Comedy writer Richard Vranch, a regular at the Comedy Store, worked with the team on shaping its content.
