Producing Workshop: From Fringe to Mid-scale

Ready to take your producing skills to the next level? This hands-on workshop is designed for early-career producers who’ve gained some fringe experience and are looking to make the leap to mid-scale work.
Expect a practical and collaborative environment – no jargon, real talk and useful tools, to take your producing career further. Led by Tamasha’s very own Creative Associate, Debo Adebayo and our General Manager, Harris Albar.
Who’s it for?
Early career producers who are wanting to upscale their work from fringe to mid-scale
What will you cover?
- The fundamentals of producing: assembling creative and production teams, building and running a show, working with venues and audiences
- How to adapt and grow your producing practice for mid-scale projects
- Practical strategies for scaling up work without losing your creative identity
- Demystifying the mid-scale: how to use your existing skills to move forward
What will you take away?
- A safe and supportive space for learning and asking all your questions
- Templates and tools you can take away and use immediately – budgets, contracts, timelines, and more
- Time to apply what you’ve learned directly to your own project or idea
- Insight from experienced producers who’ve made the same transition

Debo Adebayo has been the Creative Associate at Tamasha since 2024, between 2018 and 2023 he was our Lead Producer, and between 2015 and 2018 our Developing Artist Producer and Marketing Manager. Debo is also the Senior Producer at Tangled Feet. Previously, Debo was the Deputy Artistic Director for Paines Plough, the interim Head of Youth Programming at Battersea Arts Centre, worked part-time with Tangle Theatre Company as their Communications Director, as well as working with Nitrobeat (formerly Nitro Black Theatre/The Black Theatre Co-Operative), and The Red Room. He has also worked with companies such as Talawa, Utopia Theatre and Collective Artistes as a marketing consultant. He collaborates regularly as producer and sound designer/music supervisor with playwright Mojisola Adebayo.
Harris Albar – Facilitator
Harris Albar is a queer and migrant producer from Singapore. With a background in Applied Theatre from the Central School of Speech and Drama, Harris creates work with the intention of making joyful and hopeful spaces. His work, both within companies and as an independent producer aims to allow marginalised early-career artist to grow their work ambitiously. He is currently General Manager at Tamasha and maintains an extensive freelance portfolio with work recently being staged at The Royal Court Theatre, Soho Theatre, Birmingham Repertory Theatre, and The Pleasance Theatre (London and Edinburgh).
